São Luís is a Brazilian municipality of the state Maranhao. It is the only Brazilian city founded by French (September 8th - 1612), later hacked by Dutchmen  and finally colonized by Portuguese. It is place on the island of Upaon-Açu no South Atlantic, enter as bays de San Marcos e Sao Jose de Ribamar.
  The beaches are one of the most popular tourist spots for tourists visiting the city. The highlights are: Praia da Guia, Prainha, Praia do Cajueiro, Praia do Calhau, Praia do Amor, among others.
   The city of São Luís is place in an area where two floras meet: the da  flora amazon  and the northeastern flora. This makes the island of São Luís have a very diverse flora, rich in species. In the coastal region of the city (comprising almost all of it) 260 species of plants entered into 76 families were identified; Fabaceae present with the largest number of species, more than. Out of all regions searched of Brazil, 125 species are exclusive to São Luís.
